Why this role is important?

The Promotional Merchandising Allocations Specialist is the subject expert that works directly with Category Directors/Vendors to ensure all Mass Order Generation’s (MOG’s) are allocated and loaded accurately and in a timely manner. Each Specialist must develop a strong understanding of the overall Merchandising Strategy and initiatives to increase sale and gross margin profit, by working collaboratively with the category teams and vendors.

The Promotional Merchandising Allocations Specialist role involves Project Management of the MOG cycle that coordinates the efforts of varied stakeholders, in addition to Category teams, including Supply Chain, Merchandising, Operations.  Once shipped to stores, these MOG’s will influence inventory buying decisions, markdown processing activities and operational execution of product merchandising at the store level.

MOG (Mass Order Generation):  Orders automatically generated for stores to support programs developed by the Category Management and Merchandising Teams in order to drive incremental sales and achieve overall planned sales for the year.

What you’ll do

  • Creates, allocates and loads all automatic distribution (MOG) spreadsheets into SAP and sends out confirmation to Category Management and Supply Chain.

  • The Promotional Merchandising Allocations Specialist is the gatekeeper for accuracy and proper flow of all pushed-merchandise through the business

  • Communicates with category teams and vendors on order status/item availability

  • Adds or removes items on created orders as per directives

  • Update MOG Inclusion Lists and manage urgent MOG change requests from Category Management. Follow-up with Category Management for MOGs that are delayed/pushed, UPCs not built and QA Issues. Handle any ad-hoc MOG inquiries and request

  • Maintains MOG Approval Spreadsheet

  • Tracking, Reporting and Analysis for historical as well as allocation responsibilities

  • Maintaining desired inventory levels at store by running allocation models

  • Coordinating delivery/ship to store timing with Vendors and Category Team

  • Working with Inventory and Logistics to plan shipping/receiving timelines of merchandise to DC’s

  • Monitoring category sales and the physical inventory pushed and ensuing performance

  • Logging every single sku/prepack that is pushed-merchandise through the business to the stores

  • Reporting sales and analyzing sell through for all pushed orders

  • Prepares for and attends Bi-Weekly and Period MOG Meetings

  • Updates the MOG Period Templates for Merchandising and MOG Submission Tracking/Record keeping

  • Consolidates, prints, tracks and logs all MOG Submissions

  • Responsible for sending out MOG Approval Meeting Minutes to Category Management/ Inventory/ Merchandising and Promotions

  • Liaises with category management regularly to supports the flow of all pushed-merchandise through the business

  • Ensures all Promotional Substitutions submitted by Category are tracked and entered correctly

  • Updates CPMS as well as MOG Approvals with any cancellations or MOG change requests

  • Add/Remove Stores based on Operational Requests as well as Capital Plan Activity

  • Filing and Clerical Duties

  • Hard copy forms are kept in filing cabinets and they are responsible for logging/tracking all MOGs in excel spreadsheets to keep accurate and up to date records of all MOG orders

What you’ll need

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with good communication skills, both oral and written

  • Problem solving and organizational abilities are key requirements

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in order to meet established deadlines

  • Capable of working in a fast paced, deadline and detail-oriented environment

  • Be self-motivated, with a commitment to continuous learning

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Word)

  • Proficient in Shoppers Drug Mart Internal Applications (CPMS, SAP and MicroStrategy)

  • Analytical experience
